I live in Washington state and it’s dry here so orchids slowly die. I finally discovered a magic trick to grow orchids. I buy a box of giant 5 gallon ziplock bags and put the orchids inside under a grow light or near a window and they grow like crazy with fuzzy roots because of the prolific root hairs. I’ve never had luck with orchids but I know that growing plants isn’t about luck so I figured it out.

Hi, did you sterilize the potting mix before repotting? If yes, which way you sterilized it?

I’ve been fertilizing my nepenthes with Maxsea. 5 ml in each pitcher every two weeks. Ppm of the fertilizer is 165. Would that be good?

I realize that this is an old video but very informative. I only wish that my orchids had air roots half as nice as those. Some of my orchids have a few short air roots but nothing like I see on some orchids. It may be that my environment is too dry for at least half of the year. I am hoping that using a humidifier near the plants during the winter will help.

is your garage dark? NO windows all winter or is there light? sometimes you can cut bananas at the base and just wrap in burlap in pot for winter with all leaves cut off...is it the same with red banana?
